On the Picture of Harima Akashi Castle painted from the year of about 1939 to 1649, we cannot find a bridge over the Akashi River and see the words “crossing on foot” instead. The bridge was built over the river in 1844, at the end of Edo period. After some widening s of it and rebuildings because ot disaster,present Taikan Bridge was built in 1962.
