Thanks to a monopoly of the shika-no-se, one of the best fisheries in Japan, for about 300 years from Takayama Ukon age to the middle of the Meiji period, Hayashi Village has developed. People made full use of their fishing boats at the Shika-no-se to catch many kinds of fish such as sand lance, saraine, octopus and sea bream in quantity. Though each of fishermen in Shinhama has own fishing boat, the fishermen in Hayashi uses the same fishing boat. Because Fujiwara Shigezo in Hayashi Village improvea the purse net at the end of the Meiji period, the catch of sardine dramatically increased. There is the commemoration monument of the purse net at Hayashi Elementany School. The purse net fishing needed over ten fishing boats and nearly 100 people, so people of each town joined forces and worked together for sardine fishing. Each ot 8 connections of Higashino-cho, Nakano-cho, Nishino-cho, Motoami (Kawabata-cho, Miyano- machi), Marusan (Takahama-higashi-cho ), Ebisu
( Takahama-naka- cho, Taahama-esisu-сло), Наchikuro- cho and Takahama-nishi-cho worships Ebisu Shrine, Inari Shrine and so on. Now the purse net fishing has disappeared but people Keep doing the group work as the farming nori.
