Matsudaira Nobuyuki, the 6th feudal lord of the Akashi domain planted pine trees as the windbreak and sandbreak forest here in the 1660s, Matsudaira Naoakira, the 8th feudal lord of the AKashi domain, built the Bokai Tei, his second house, in 1711. This beach had become the Bokai Go-ryochi, the land of the Imperial Household, in 1848.
