01.海につながる住吉神社

沿岸部えんがんぶの東西とうざいにつらなる江井島、西八木、谷八木の各村には住吉神社があります。
江井島にある住吉神社は、海が見下ろせる、浜辺はまべの小高い丘おかの上にあります。
西八木にある住吉神社は、八木集落しゅうらくを東西に分ける谷筋たにすじの西側に位置し、海に向かって参道が伸びています。
谷八木にある住吉神社は、南に位置する谷八木村の中心を南北に縦貫じゅうかんし、長光寺がある海辺へと参道が伸びています。
各住吉神社は建立こんりゅうの年代にこそ違いはありますが、神社の本殿ほんでんはいずれも海に向かって建つ点で共通し、海とのつながりに深い関係がある神社です。
沿岸部に分布ぶんぷする住吉神社は、昔から住吉三神と神功皇后じんぐうこうごうを祀まつる神社として知られています。
明石の沿岸部一帯は、古代より摂津国せっつのくに住吉大社の所領地でした。
かつて住吉大社領であった各村は神社を建て、氏子村としてそれぞれ発展を遂とげました。

Sumiyoshi Shrine related to the sea

Each seaside Village of Eigashima, Nishiyagi and Taniyagi has their own Sumiyoshi Shrine. Sumiyoshi Shrine of Eigashima is located on the slightly elevated hill by the beach and we can look down the sea there. Sumiyoshi Shrine of Nishiyagi is located to the west of the draw that separates Yagi area into Yagi Village and Nishiyagi Village and its approach heads for the sea. The approach of Sumiyoshi Shrine of Taniyagi goes south and arrives to the east of Choko-ji temple by the sea via the center of Taniyagi Village. Three Sumiyoshi Shrines were built in different years but all main shrines face the sea and are related to the sea. A Sumiyoshi Shrine is located on the coast and known to have enshrined 3 gods of Sumiyoshi Oyashiro Shrine and Empress Jingu for a long time. The whole area on the coast in Akashi was the territory of Sumiyoshi Oashiro Shrine in Settsu for a long time.

The three villages that were once the territories of Sumiyoshi Oyashiro Shrine stood their own shrines and developed as the village community of Sumiyoshi Shrine respectively.
