ここは明石城から人丸山へ続く断層崖です。北は上ノ丸台地で南は沼ノ丁と呼ばれていました。
門はお城の東北にある薬研堀・千石堀の東端に位置し南の侍屋敷と北の上ノ丸組屋鋪・足軽町、東のテラノ町との接点にありました。
20.Around Ymashita-mon gate
There is a fault cliff from Akashi Castle to Mt.Hitomaru. Uenomaru Plateau is on the north of it and Numano-cho was on the south of it. Ymashita-mon gate was located at the east end of Yagenbori moat and Sengokubori moat that area on the northeast of the castle, also the samurai residential area was on the south of it, the Uenomaru samurai officer residential area and asigaru, samurai of the lowest rank, residential area were on the north of it, also Terano-cho was on the east of it in the Edo period.
