拝殿前にある石造狛犬で、右は口を開け左は口を閉じ、阿吽の対をしています。本体は砂岩で台座は花崗岩、立髪の巻き毛が特徴です。 台座には宝暦4(1754)年の銘があり、現存する石造狛犬の中で、播磨で最古の作とされています。
16.The oldest stone guardian dogs in Harima area
This is a pair of stone guardian dogs in front of the outer shrine of Kakinomoto Shrine. The right one opens its mouth and says “a” and the left one shuts its mouth and says “woom”. “A-woom” means harmony or true. Their mane curls. Their bodies are made of sandstone and the pedestals are made of granite. Since the pedestals are written “Horeki 4”, the year of 1754, they are recognized as the existing oldest stone guardian dogs in Harima area
